Karl Berry Is Still On the Move

Karl writes poetry and reads it on a local cable station. He has MS and vision problems. A sled helps him with moving around, because the sticks can only steady him so much. But, if he cannot see, he cannot drive the cart. Who knows how much damage he could do if he hit someone or something? But, if he cannot get around, he will lose his entire social network.

So, I walked down to the waterfront with him. We watched the light change. We watched the clouds speed up their movement across the sky. Then we separated to beat the storm.

Mollie Loses Home

Some people live in their cars when they have no other place to live. When the police remove their cars, for presumably lawful reasons, the inhabitants lose their place of residence. So, she and her boyfriend of 18 months live outside. Not a comfortable place to be as the tropical storm approaches.

Not sure how she can manage a positive look. Wouldn’t call it a smile. But its a lot better than I could do if it were me.

Ricochet in Woodstock

Met him on the green in Woodstock. The area has become more solid and less green with the addition of slate, but the appearance of the individuals who occupy the space has not changed in the 40 years I have been going there. He looks the same as everyone else who I have met and spoken with. What was missing? A sign! Like, “Make peace now,” or “War Sucks.”

James Kitchen, Sculptor for Stavros

Stavros works with people with disabilities, finding them residences, services and anything that can make their lives more liveable and life’s equipment more accessible. James Kitchen who uses discarded materials for his works and donates proceeds to endless causes built this to provide imagery for Stavros. An artist cannot do better than when their art promotes social justice.

John Evers, Attorney at Law

Of Counsel to O’Neill, Kelner and Green in Burlington VT, Jon Evers thrives as a traditional barrister. He loves the drama of the old time courtroom and the challenge of using modern computer interfaces to make facts easier to present and arguments more persuasive. He has looks, smarts, and ingenuity. Were he a baseball player, you’d say he has all the tools.
