Monthly photo. Quite a set. We had a bad day, but stayed in love, supporting each other. Too old and a challenged immune system prevented me from getting a yellow fever vaccine. So, no trip to the Amazon Rain Forest. Cost us money, but Sharon won’t have to worry about some wayward bug biting me.

The Medina of Marrakesh looks like it did before cars. Snake charmers. Monkeys. People from all over. Not enough time to see everything or eat street food.
Sand Shadows
Nothing like a camel ride in the middle of the Saharan Desert, a drink of wine and a sunset. Bedouins have been doing these trips for thousands of years, so they know the way. The sand never repeats itself. Fine art.
Singing in Morocco
Welcome to the desert. The camel had a name, but I cannot remember it. Booochie will have to do, eh!

Sharon’s camel did all he could to make her comfortable. Then we had wine and watched the sunset over the dunes. She always dresses for the part.

In Marrakech, we went to the YSL Museum. Sharon could have worn his stuff with pride and panache. Yves lived on the grounds, next door to his lover. The gardens are quite beautiful. Large crowds. Smart exhibits.
Mocking Mural in South Beach
A year ago, I attended a Rick Sammon/Cannon Location workshop in South Beach FL. He, despite being under the weather, was always the inspirer and teacher. Back at the Hotel of South Beach, the beach shoot having concluded, he encouraged me to use the skills we practiced and shoot the model in front of the mural in the restaurant. Photographers could learn a lot from him. Nothing he doesn’t know or is unwilling to share.
Street Cuba 2018
I shoot portraits, even when I shoot on the street. I never ambush anyone, engaging with a brief word or two, regardless of the language, and then I shoot. People look at my lens and we meet in the camera.
Never Forget, Don’t Pay To Remember
This statue in Pere Lachaise doesn’t cost a cent to see. It’s haunting memory brings sights and smells of the Holocaust to your senses without charge. To make visits to the shrines of dead jews the equivalent of paying to ride at an amusement park devalues the debt humanity owes the dead.
With all the money in the world spent on campaigns to elect people or to promote international sports or to get people to fritter their money away at gambling casinos, one might think that some things are too deserving of veneration to be commercialized. Not if you are Trumpian.
Charging to see the artifacts of death from Aushwitz and making a profit offends me. No charge to see the memorial in Miami. No charge in Berlin. No charge in Berlin. And, when we went to Stutthoff, a work camp in Poland, we went in free. October, we are going to Terezin. I will let you know.
I don’t do fund raising, but give to the cause of preserving the memories of the dead for all, especially those without the funds. Some of these financially challenged might be dissuaded from turning to killing to earn a living.
Alternate Sources of Power
Before we convince ourselves of our rightness or righteousness, let’s not forget the world around us, most of which is water, above which the wind blows. Other ways exist to supply power than fossil fuels. And, you don’t need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
